The Shocking Truth of the Katyń Massacre II

Part II

Stalin knew exactly what he was doing. His plan was carefully thought and prepared to the last officer, to the last family member, and to the last person whom he considered as his enemy. After the last officer was killed, Stalin attempted to get rid of these officers’ families as well. The reason was that so nobody would look for their loved ones, and that the remembrance of these killed officers would disappear together with their families.  Stalin ordered to transport these families to Siberia or Kazakhstan, which is far Northern and far Eastern Russia, hoping that they all would die out of hunger, diseases, and cold. As a result of that, many people died indeed, but many, even though were seriously ill, survived. And now, they are telling their stories. Thanks to God for that because thanks to these people we now know what had happened and what kind of torment they had gone through.
However, God never forgets His beloved children and causes that the truth always finds its way out.  Winter and Spring of 1940 came.  Hungry wolfs sensing something under the ground started digging the ground and pulling found human bones to the top.  Polish workers, who were forced that time to clean the nearby tracks from heavy snow, noticed that and decided to check what that was about.  Out of curiosity they started digging as well.  What they found was terrifying.  There were holes full of human bones dressed in green Polish military uniform.  Each officer had his full name sew on his uniform.  And now, these green uniforms, these broken from lying too long in the wet ground uniforms, proudly say "All for God, Honor, and the Motherland".  These workers found their own compatriots, possibly even their own family members.  The more they dug the more human bones they found.  They were shocked and terrified.  They were too afraid to report that discovery to the Russian police, so, they simply started asking around.  A few locals were able to tell them that about a year before they heard a lot of commotion, something like noise of heavy truck driving back and forth, shouting, screaming, and gunshots.  Everything was occurring mostly at night when was very quiet, so they were able to hear the whole thing.  They were unsure what was happening, but, because it sounded bad, they were too scared to check.  They pointed were the noises were coming from, and that was exactly where the bodies were buried.  The workers covered the graves and placed a simple wooden cross on each one of them.
Then, about their discovery the Polish workers notified the German occupant in Russia.  German authorities immediately  started exhuming the bodies.  Next to these bodies, they found a lot of souvenirs, pictures, notes and journals containing the information from the last days of of the killed people's lives.  Now, these journals are silent witnesses to the crime. Right after that, Germans informed the world about the discovery and announced that it was a crime of war done by Soviets.  Stalin could not understand how his "perfect crime" was discovered so early and only one year after it was done.  He was afraid that he might have been answering for the crime in front of the international war council, so quickly he pointed the finger on Germans.  But, even though he denied the killings and was not answering for the crime, that whole situation scared him painfully and increased his hatred towards Polish people.  It was far more than he could take, so, ten years after that discovery, at the age of 74, Stalin died of stroke.  His daughter, Swietlana, later reported that, hated by his family and friends, Stalin was dying long hours alone in terrible pain of slow suffocation.  Many Poles felt relieved because finally the oppressor of Poland faded away.  However, for Poles the way to full freedom was still very long, bloody, and painful.  Finally, after many years of suffering and struggling, Poland regain its full freedom.  And now it is time to forgive those who hurt us and to pray for forgiveness.  We are not that Innocent either.  Only this way we will be redeemed and regain peace in our hearts.  Only if we have peace in our hearts we will be able to give that peace to others and make the world a better place to live.
